Approved!

My thesis defense went pretty well. Prof. McCalley, who came from Iowa State and was the primary one to make questions, threw me a few tough ones and had some valid criticisms of my work, but it was a friendly exchange and I think I came out OK. My work was approved with a rating of "very good", so I guess now I am a Master. :)

My presentation is available online as of course is my thesis. I recorded the audio of the defense, but I don't think that will be going public.

One unexpected event....

I hadn't worn my dress shoes for a while, about two years in fact, and unbeknowst to me the foam of the heels was almost completely rotten out. On the way to the university, a number of pieces fell off, and once I got here and took a look, it was clear they were going to be unusable. A trail of foam pieces was following me....

....so.... a collegue is bringing some shoes of his for me to borrow. They might not fit the best, but they should work. Two of the members of my jury have already seen my socked feet and know the situation, so there's really no negative effect left in wearing out-sized shoes.

Sometimes all one can do is laugh!

Keep checking for photos

Sarah and Kevin continue to take pictures of Elijah. Keep checking her photo site for the latest....

For me, the presentation comes tomorrow morning. My presentation is pretty much ready, and now I'm working on a paper for publication. As for the tie, I don't have an exact count, but the grey one seems to have won the majority.

Help me choose a tie

I have my M.S. thesis defense this Friday and need to choose a tie. I've narrowed it down to two favorites:

What do you think? Never mind the overly long hair or out-of-focus photo, just pick a tie! :)

Thanks!
