Moon Gulch on Google Maps

I think I've figured out how to get a track from my handheld GPS unit into a Google map. Here is my track from the Moon Gulch hike with friends from church last weekend:

According to my GPS, our round trip distance was 7.6 miles with a max. elevation of 10375 ft and a min. elevation of 9000 ft. See Holly's blog for several good photos from the day.

Ask Calvin's Dad

Remember the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes? It was great! Here's a compilation of wisdom from Calvin's dad.

My favorites:
Q. Why does the sky turn red as the sun sets?
A. That's all the oxygen in the atmosphere catching fire.

Q. Why do my eyes shut when I sneeze?
A. If your lids weren't closed, the force of the explosion would blow your eyeballs out and stretch the optic nerve, so your eyes would flop around and you'd have to point them with your hands to see anything.

HT: Tim Challies

Quietly

(words by Isaac Watts, adapted and arranged by Daniel Renstrom)

Quietly we come before Your presence here today
Agreeing with the Spirit as we come
And rags of filth are all we have when asked to bring our best
We claim nothing but Your righteousness

And we come to You, Father
      Because of what he's done
By Jesus our sacrifice was made
And we enter in Your presence
      Singing only by the Lamb
And grafted we stand in awe of You again

So here we are this body crying out to You today
Our need of mercy once again is large
We know that You are the only thing that satisfies our heart
Oh bind us like a fetter once again

And we come to You, Father
      Because of what he's done
By Jesus our sacrifice was made
And we enter in Your presence
      Singing only by the Lamb
And grafted we stand in awe of You again

One Hundred Pushups

The other day I saw that blogger Joe Thorn was starting a program to do one hundred push-ups. This morning I did the initial test to see how many I could do and found that I was able to do twenty-eight push-ups. Now I'll follow the training program to work my way up to one hundred. I don't expect that my arms will get bigger or anything, but at least I'll know that I can do it!
