Book Suggestions

One of your books is on my list (and has been for years, I just never seem to get to it)... The Cost of Discipleship. Here are some of my favorites:

  • The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey
  • Wild at Heart, by John Eldredge
  • Waking the Dead, by John Eldredge
  • Now Discover Your Strengths, by Marcus Buckingham (If you take the strengths test, I would love to know what your results are)
  • John Adams, by David McCullough
  • His Excellency: George Washington, by Joseph J. Ellis

These are the few that just come to mind.

I'm actually working on Wild

I'm actually working on Wild at Heart right now. The others I'll take as recommended. Someday maybe I'll read half the things I hope to! Thanks for the suggestions.

Books

I just thought of another one... Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell. Rob is the pastor of Mars Hill Church in Grand Rapids Michigan. I found it to be a refreshing and challenging view on following Jesus.

There are a few I'd also

There are a few I'd also like to suggest. I've found these books to be encouraging and at the same time setting my feet on the straight and narrow way.

Steps to Christ
Desire of Ages
Christ's Object Lessons

All of these are written by Ellen White. Desire of Ages I especially recommend. Desire of Ages starts with the condition of the world shortly before Christ's birth and ends with his ascension. As you read the book it goes over small portions of the gospel, generally a parable or a story, and lays out the details that you normally miss by skimming the surface. It is the best guide to the gospels that I can think of.

Anyways these are some of my recommendations after having looked at the list of books you have. I think you will really enjoy these.
